The Abbotsford Midwifery Group has a few spaces available for January and March, one space for Feb and one space for April. Please pass on the information as they would be happy to accept some more women into care. Call 604-859-4430, or email abbotsfordmidwiferygroup@hotmail.ca.

Midwives in Chilliwack!!

When I add a new resource to my website, I don't typically make an announcement about it on the blog page, but this one holds such importance I decided to do so this time. Midwives are a precious commodity here in the Fraser Valley. I don't know of any midwives who don't have wait lists. In fact, if a woman doesn't contact a midwife the moment (literally) she knows she is pregnant she likely won't be able to have a midwife provide care for her pregnancy and birth. In addition, as there have been no midwife practices located east of Abbotsford, women living in those communities are forced to travel significant distances for their prenatal/postpartum care. Women who want home births are finding that logistical challenges often prevent that being a viable option for them. So it is with great excitement that I bring the news that there is a midwifery clinic opening in Chilliwack this spring and will soon be taking clients due to give birth in 2012.
