Videos

I decided to create a page where I could post just videos. Never mind that I get to attend births, and read about birth, and study all things birthy...I can't get enough, so I also have to watch all the videos I can. Here's the beginning of a collection of videos I just happen to find educational, inspirational, thought provoking...or I just plain like 'em. (By way of a general qualifier...some of these are graphic.)

Our Perception is Our Reality...I love this video on many levels. This mama has a very comfortable birth because she is able to trust her body, trust the process, and totally relax, allowing her birthing muscles to do what they need to do. Most of all I love her 2 year old doula! Warning...make sure you have the Kleenex handy before viewing.

Born in the Caul...caul literally means “head helmet” and babies born in the caul have always carried traditions of good luck and health. With AROM (artificial rupture of membranes) being such a common intervention, wonder how many are being deprived of this?

A Gentle Birth...I like this one for two reasons. First, it's a great example of spontaneous pushing. Note how the mother pushes according to her body's direction; also note the many little breaths she takes for good oxygenation. Second, it's a clip from the recently released documentary, Doula! The Ultimate Birth Companion, which focuses on the valuable role a doula has on the birth team.

Breech Birth...hands off the breech!...and let's have more hands/knees births.

Breast Crawl...newborns have some amazing skills (when they're not interfered with)
